The culture of Egypt is the richest the world has ever known. In 1999, Dr. Hatem El Sayed of Port Said, Egypt and his then partner Sausan, opened Al-Masri to bring the cuisine and culture of Egypt to the sophisticated palates of San Francisco. Today, Al-Masri holds a coveted reputation for tits dedication to authenticity. Al-Masri (The Egyptian) is a collage of Egypt's seven thousand years of history and tradition. On the menu, you will find dishes as ancient as the pyramids to modern interpretations created for His Majesty, King Faruq I, the last monarch of Egypt. The ambiance takes its inspiration from the royal tomb of King Tut. Hand-painted images of ancient Egyptian artwork grace the dancer's stage main dining room and continue throughout the "Isis Room", our 12-guest private dining room. Our bar offers guests an extensive wine list, Egyptian beer, and an exciting selection of signature cocktails. With a 75 guest capacity, we are seasoned at delivering unforgettable experiences to parties small and large. Included in our dining experience are our nightly "Raqs Baladi" performances -- coined in America as "Belly Dance". Al-Masri's performers are revered in the US, not only as great entertainers, but also as cultural ambassadors of the dance. All of our dancers perform exclusively at Al-Masri and are graduates of the Sausan Academy of Egyptian Dance.
