Becco is derived from the Italian word beccare, which means to nibble in a discriminating way. Savoring a variety of Italian dishes is the concept at this Theater District favorite, where diners are welcomed with open arms and plenty of food.

The restaurant was conceived in 1993 under the direction of Lidia Bastianich and her son, Joseph, with the idea that authentic, hearty portions of Italian food could be served at lower prices than Becco's East Side sibling, Felidia.

Upon arrival at Becco guests immediately feel like they've stepped into an Italian country house. The dining room and bar area are rustic and charming. Motifs of food are found in every painting on the wall and even the seat cushions, preparing the guests for the waiters arrival with baskets of bread and purees.
