The menu at ...on the Verandah, which opened in the resort town of Highlands, NC in 1981 incorporates much of the diversity of varying ethnic cuisines and unusual ingredients experienced throughout the owners' extensive travel and food research in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Asia during the past twenty-five years.
There are daily specials to take advantage of fresh ingredients and the menu changes seasonally. One of the favorite desserts to remain on the menu, year after year, is the Creme Brulée, featured in the July 1986, issue of Gourmet. Dinner entrees range from $15.50 to $30.00. Typical weekly specials are: Grilled Tuna Loin with Wasabi Beurre Blanc, Applewood Smoked Salmon with Sesame Nori and Cucumber Salad, Baked Goat Cheese Salad, North Carolina Quail stuffed with Black Mission Figs and Walnuts in Passionfruit Liqueur Sauce, and Grilled Elk Tenderloin with Habañero BBQ Sauce.

VERY NOISY! Although the food was tasty, it was NOT served HOT. Also be sure to order many different items or you will go away hungry! Won't go back.
