The Rendezvous, founded by Charlie Vergos in 1948, started out as an 80 seat tavern serving ham and cheese sandwiches. When Charlie cleaned out the basement beneath his diner, he discovered a coal chute and started a barbecue legend. The coal chute gave Mr. Charlie a vent for his considerable talent over the grill. He developed a unique seasoning fusing his Greek heritage with spices he enjoyed from New Orleans. The ribs aren't "wet" but they aren't "dry" either; the ribs are tender & juicy and come dripping in the basting juice and sprinkled with Rendezvous seasoning. Mr. Charlie was a collector and hung antiques, memorabilia, and artwork on the walls. This, along with a soulful jukebox, lively waiters, and aromas from the kitchen helped him to create an atmosphere unequalled in the city of Memphis. Today, the restaurant is run by Mr. Charlie's three kids, but the ribs still taste the same as they did in the beginning. If you want to eat like a local, start with a pitcher of beer & cheese/sausage place and soak in the atmosphere.

This is by far the best Ribs I have ever eaten!!! Rendezvous is always packed so be ready to wait unless you arrive at after or before the crowd... Once you try there smoked, ...
Our group of 35 people got ripped off at the Rendevous. We made a telephone reservation and ended up paying $38.13 (tip and non-alcoholic drinks included)per person for a meal that was less than ...
Not all it's cracked up to be. Neat building, but don't waste your money on the food. We came home and ran to our local bbq place. We got better bbq there. Really a rip-off.
There is no cooler place! The service is impeciable and not only is the Barbecue to die for, a cheese plate is a must!! Enjoy!
OK this place is the Mac daddy rib place in Memphis. The waiters were phenominal. The pulled pork was awsome. The ribs are either done dry or wet. Bring a hunger for pork.
I lived in Memphis in the 1970s, and the Rendezvous was wonderful then, and I understand from others it still is.
